Tree Debris Removal in Tallahassee: What's Included and What Isn't

"Do You Clean Up After Yourselves?"

This is one of the first questions people ask when they call about tree removal or storm cleanup. The answer is: yes, completely — that's standard.

But debris removal is also a service in its own right, and it's worth understanding exactly what it involves and when you might need it as a standalone job.

What's Included in a Standard Removal Job

When we remove a tree, the job isn't complete until the debris is gone. Standard debris handling as part of a tree removal includes:

  • All limbs, branches, and trunk sections cut and removed from the property
  • Wood chipped on-site and hauled away (or left if you want it for firewood or mulch — your choice)
  • Stump grinding if included in the job (or scheduled separately)
  • Leaf litter and small debris swept and raked from the immediate area
  • Property left in the condition we found it, minus the tree

We don't leave piles at the curb and call it done. The job isn't finished until the debris is off your property.

What Standalone Debris Removal Looks Like

Sometimes debris exists independently of a removal job we performed. Common scenarios:

Another company did the removal but left the debris. This happens — especially after storm events when crews are overwhelmed. Some companies focus on the cutting and leave hauling for later, or the customer wasn't clear on what was included. We do debris-only pickups throughout Tallahassee.

Storm damage left material on your property. After a significant storm, your yard may have branches, limbs, or whole sections of trees from trees that were damaged but not fully downed. If the material is already on the ground and you just need it gone, that's a debris removal job.

DIY cutting with no way to haul. You took down a tree yourself, or cut up fallen limbs, but now you have a pile of wood you can't move. We can come in and haul it.

Construction site clearing. Land clearing and site preparation sometimes produces more wood and brush than can be handled on-site. We haul from construction sites as well as residential properties.

How Debris Removal Is Priced

The main factors are:

  • Volume — how much material is there?
  • Accessibility — can the truck get close, or does crew have to hand-carry from a back yard?
  • Type of material — chippable limbs and branches vs. heavy trunk sections requires different equipment
  • Whether chipping is needed — loose branches require a chipper; straight-cut wood that can be stacked may not

For residential debris after a normal storm event — a few large limbs down, maybe a small tree — pricing is typically straightforward. Larger volumes, tight access, or very heavy material adds to the cost.

Timing After a Storm

After a significant storm, we receive many calls and prioritize by urgency — trees on structures, downed power lines, safety hazards. Once immediate hazards are cleared, we work through debris removal calls.

If you're not facing an immediate hazard but have a yard full of debris, call as soon as possible to get on the schedule. Debris removal demand spikes in the days following any major storm system. The sooner you call, the sooner we can get to you.
