Tree Service in Havana

Havana is a small town on US-27 in northern Gadsden County, about 15 miles north of Tallahassee. It sits just south of the Georgia state line and has maintained a small-town character with older residential properties and significant tree canopy throughout the area.

We serve Havana and the surrounding northern Gadsden County area with full tree services — the same crew and equipment that runs our Tallahassee routes.

Services in the Havana Area

Tree removal: Removal of hazardous, dead, storm-damaged, or unwanted trees. Havana's older residential properties often have large mature oaks — live oaks, water oaks, and southern red oaks are common — that need proper handling when removal is necessary.

Tree trimming and pruning: Dead branch removal, crown cleaning, crown raising for clearance, structural pruning on younger trees. Regular pruning on mature oaks extends their life and reduces storm risk.

Storm damage response: The area receives significant storm activity in summer. We respond for post-storm emergency work — trees on structures, blocked access, hanging limbs.

Stump grinding: After removal, stump grinding eliminates the stump and surface root mass below ground level so the area can be reclaimed.

Havana's Tree Character

Havana's established neighborhoods have large trees. The area north of Tallahassee has heavier rainfall and rich soils compared to some parts of the Florida Panhandle, which means trees grow large. That's an asset in normal times — mature oaks provide significant shade and property character — but it also means more weight, more leverage in wind events, and more consequence when a tree fails.

Water oaks on residential lots in Havana often exceed 18-24 inches in diameter and 50-60 feet in height. They're common, fast-growing, and shorter-lived than live oaks. Water oaks in the 30-50 year range sometimes develop internal decay that isn't visible from the outside until late stages.

Live oaks are present throughout Havana. They're structurally superior to water oaks but can develop significant co-dominant stem issues and included bark unions at major crotches. These don't always cause problems, but they warrant assessment on large trees over structures.

Pecan trees are common on older properties in the area, consistent with the broader agricultural character of Gadsden County.

Getting Work Done in Havana

Distance from Tallahassee isn't a barrier for us — we work throughout the region. What matters is scheduling: get an estimate before you need the work done urgently. Emergency rates apply to true emergencies (tree on a structure, active hazard), while planned work priced in advance is less expensive.

We'll schedule an on-site visit, assess the trees, and provide a written estimate. Work is then scheduled based on our route calendar.
