Tree Service in Grayton Beach, FL

Grayton Beach is one of the oldest communities on the Walton County coast, a village of cottages and sandy lanes under old live oaks beside Grayton Beach State Park and Western Lake, one of the coastal dune lakes. WaterColor, the planned community built next door on the Gulf, shares the same stretch of 30A and the same Santa Rosa Beach ZIP code, 32459. Hurricane Isaias came ashore at Destin as a Category 2 storm on October 9, 2026, to the west along the same coast, and the coastal forest here took the wind and rain. Reed Tree Service is based in Tallahassee, and our climbing crew is working the Emerald Coast now. Call Josh at (850) 888-5603 and he will tell you whether the crew can get to your address.

Grayton Beach and WaterColor are east of where Hurricane Isaias came ashore at Destin, along the same 30A coast. Josh is taking calls for storm-damaged trees here while the crew is on the Emerald Coast. Storm damage on the Emerald Coast? See Destin storm tree removal after Hurricane Isaias. About Grayton Beach & Walton County

The trees are the character of Grayton Beach. Sand live oaks with low, wind-bent limbs, slash and sand pines, southern magnolias and cabbage palms crowd the cottage lots, and many of the lanes are narrow and sandy, with houses set close to the trees and to each other. That leaves little room to drop anything, so a climber rigs each piece down on lines. Salt spray and sandy soil keep roots shallow and wear on the crowns, and a hurricane finds the weak limbs and the roots that have lost their grip. The state park and Western Lake are next door, and lots near the dunes or the lake can fall under state or county coastal rules, so check with Walton County before a healthy tree on one of those lots comes down.

WaterColor is organized differently. It is a planned community with a community association and design guidelines, and in places like it the association or its architectural review committee normally has to approve before a healthy tree is removed or a new one is planted. A tree that is already down or an obvious danger moves faster, but ask in writing either way. Find out what the association or the property manager needs, such as written approval, a description of the work or a named contact on site, and Josh will describe the job in plain terms for you to pass along. Grayton Beach and WaterColor are both in unincorporated Walton County, so the county's rules and its storm debris contract apply to both.

Services We Provide in Grayton Beach

In Grayton Beach and WaterColor the work is storm-damaged oaks and pines taken down in sections over cottage roofs, porches, fences and pool decks, limbs cut off lanes and shared paths, crowns trimmed back from buildings, cracked and leaning trees removed before the next storm, and stumps ground out. Rigging lines keep pieces off planted beds and the neighbors' roofs. Josh cuts the tree and moves the debris to the road. Cleanup and haul-off are extra and quoted by Josh, and haul-off happens only on big jobs, through a sub.
