Tree Service in Chipley and Washington County
Chipley is the county seat of Washington County in the Florida Panhandle, located on I-10 about 80 miles west of Tallahassee. We serve Chipley and the surrounding Washington County area for tree removal, trimming, emergency response, and stump grinding.
Services Available
Tree removal: Full removal of hazardous, dead, or unwanted trees. Washington County's residential and rural properties often have substantial pine and oak canopy. Large trees near structures require experienced handling.
Tree trimming: Crown cleaning, dead wood removal, structural pruning, crown raising for vehicle and pedestrian clearance.
Storm response: Washington County was in the direct path of Hurricane Michael (October 2018). We respond to post-storm emergency work — trees on structures, blocked roads, and hazardous hanging limbs.
Stump grinding: Stump and surface root removal below grade after tree removal.
Hurricane Michael's Impact on Washington County
Washington County received catastrophic wind damage from Hurricane Michael as the storm tracked northeast through the Panhandle. The storm's center passed near the county, bringing sustained Category 4-5 winds.
Six-plus years after Michael, trees that survived in structurally compromised condition continue to present hazards. Storm-damaged trees that weren't removed may have:
- Partial crown failure with remaining structural instability
- Root plate disturbance that wasn't visible initially but has become apparent
- Advanced decay in wound areas from Michael-era damage
- Multiple-stem failure points that developed after crown loading was redistributed
If you have trees on your Washington County property that came through Michael but haven't been professionally assessed since, a current assessment is worthwhile.
Trees in Washington County
Slash and loblolly pine dominate the upland forest throughout Washington County. After drought or storm stress, pines are susceptible to southern pine bark beetle — a rapid decline that gives little warning.
Live oak and sand live oak on upland sites. Long-lived and structurally sound under normal conditions.
Red maple, sweetgum, water oak on lower-lying and wetter residential lots.
